SRG gets a new name

The ‘Schweizerische Rundspruchgesellschaft’ changes its name to the ‘Schweizerische Radio- und Fernsehgesellschaft’ (Swiss Radio and Television Corporation). In 1960, the ‘Schweizerische Rundspruchgesellschaft’ changed its name to ‘Schweizerische Radio- und Fernsehgesellschaft’.

Election debates

The elections to the national parliament and the Council of States in 1963 were the first to feature SRG television debates with politicians representing their parties. However, the debates generated little interest among the public.

A new broadcast licence

SRG gets a new broadcast licence from the Federal Council, the first to cover television as well as radio. SRG embarks on a restructure and makes a number of changes to its statutes.
