SRG SSR is an independent, public media company that provides a multimedia public service in all regions and national languages of Switzerland. It is also an association and is therefore firmly established within society.

SRG supplies the whole population of Switzerland with an attractive and diverse selection of radio, TV and online content on the themes of information, culture, education, entertainment and sport. The content promotes freedom and diversity of opinion in Switzerland and provides an important service to society. 

Through the Swiss Radio and Television Act (RTVG) and the Charter of the Federal Council, SRG is bound to a public service contract. 

SRG is comprised of four enterprise units, RSI, RTR, RTS and SRF.  

With 6,766 employees, an annual turnover of 1.56 billion francs, 17 radio stations, 7 TV channels and comprehensive websites and teletext services, SRG is the largest electronic media company in Switzerland.

SRG is a media enterprise governed by private law and operated in accordance with the principles of company law. Its mandate is based on the Federal Constitution, the Federal Act on Radio and Television (RTVA), the Ordinance on Radio and Television (RTVO) and its charter, and is one of public service.

SRG is a non-profit company. It derives 80% of its revenue through licence fees, 14% through commercial activities and 6% through other income. SRG has an annual income of 1.56 billion francs, 41% of which are allocated to information, 22% to entertainment and films, 17% to culture, society and education, 14% to sport and 6% to music and youth (figures from 2025).
