SRG Login

Your SRG Login will allow you to access a wide range of products and services from SRG and its enterprise units (RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF and SWI) that require a user account. Your SRG Login consists of your e-mail address, a username and a password. In the future, you will be able to use the same SRG Login to access all SRG’s services.

The SRG login can currently be used for the following services:

Generally speaking, you will still be able to use SRG products and services without an SRG Login. Some features of our products and services have needed an account for a long time, such as the ability to comment on news stories published on the websites of SRG’s individual enterprise units. SRG only requires users to have an account where this is needed in order to provide the material concerned, either because of the nature of the content, or for technical or legal reasons.

We process personal data when you use the SRG Login and related products and services. Personal data can be understood as personally identifiable information.

FAQ on processing personal data for SRG Login

Your SRG Login will allow you to access a wide range of products and services from SRG and its enterprise units (RSI, RTR, SRF and SWI) that require a user account.

Your SRG Login also allows you to access certain products and services in the EU. To access this content outside Switzerland, you can choose to “unlock” your SRG Login user account for use in the EU. Doing so will allow you to stream content on Play Suisse in the EU.

Your profile settings will be stored in your SRG Login user account, so you can manage them centrally.

SRG Login is designed to be used in Switzerland and in the Principality of Liechtenstein. Anyone can get an SRG Login.

Your SRG Login allows you to access a wide range of products and services from SRG and its enterprise units (RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF and SWI) that require a user account.

Some of these products and services can be personalised for individual users. These personalised services require a user account. For example, your user account will allow you to synchronise your watchlists and “Continue Watching” lists, as well as to receive personalised content recommendations.

SRG Login is operated by SRG. SRG and its enterprise units (RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF, SWI) are joint controllers for data protection purposes.

In order to register you for SRG Login, we require the following data:

  • Your e-mail address.
  • Your username.
  • Your password.

We also record your language via the SRG product or service. This language is set as your display language when you register your account.

When you register for the service, a unique identifier (UID) will be generated by the system. Your data will then be associated with this UID.

When you use products and services from SRG or its enterprise units (RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF, SWI), such as Play Suisse, your UID will be used to identify you on the system.

The data we collect from you will be used solely for the purposes of registering you with SRG Login and providing you with the service.

If you subscribe to a newsletter, we will obtain your consent to use your e-mail address so we can send it to you.

For more information about the way we process your personal data, please refer to our Data Protection Statement.

You can sign in to SRG Login using credentials for your social login (e.g. Google, Facebook, Apple, Twitter).

If you sign in using this method, SRG Login will collect

  • your e-mail address.

If your social login provider does not disclose your e-mail address, we will request it from you directly.

Our social login functionality uses an authorisation protocol known as OAuth (Open Authorisation). This protocol makes it possible for you to sign in to the system using your social media credentials.

You should be aware that signing in via a social account carries certain risks. For instance:

  • Every time you sign in, your social login provider will collect data about you.

If unauthorised third parties gain access to your social login details, they will be able to use these details to sign in to SRG Login.

If you want to deactivate your SRG Login details from your social login, you need to inform your social login provider. You can usually do this by changing the relevant (privacy) settings for your social network account.

If you deactivate the connection between your social login and the SRG Login or delete your social login account, your SRG Login user account will remain active. You will no longer be able to sign in with your former social login.

To access your remaining user account for Play Suisse, you may use the e-mail address  forwarded to us by your social login provider, or the e-mail address you provided to us (you can find this e-mail address in your SRG Login welcome e-mail):

  • Select in the SRG Login sign-in window “Forgotten your password?’”
  • Enter your e-mail address,
  • We will send you an e-mail with instructions on how to set a new password.

  • Your Swiss mobile phone number
  • The postcode of your Swiss address

This data will only be processed with your consent. Once this data has been checked, and if you are a Swiss resident, the fact you have passed the check will be stored in your SRG Login user account. The data used to carry out the check (your mobile telephone number and postcode) will then be deleted.

The fact you are a Swiss resident will be disclosed to SRG and its enterprise units (RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF and SWI) in the form of a “token” (a long sequence of numbers and letters). This will allow you to use Play Suisse and to unlock available products and services in the EU.

You can then use the profile settings for your SRG Login user account to activate and deactivate products and services individually for use in the EU.

You can also use your profile settings to switch off all products and services in the EU. If, once you have unlocked products and services for use in the EU, you decide to switch them all off again, you will need to go through the whole activation process from scratch if you want access them in the EU again.

The precise products and services you will be able to access in the EU varies on their content.

Your username is also used to show you that you are signed in to your user account. It is displayed in your profile settings.

We will also use your username to address you personally, for example if we send you a newsletter.

If you no longer want to use SRG Login, you can delete your user account via your profile settings.

And you can discover this content even if you don’t speak the original language, because it is all available with subtitles.

The streaming platform also boasts a number of other useful features, including “Continue Watching” and “My list”, along with various personalised services. These services include tailored content recommendations and search results.

Play Suisse is available all over Switzerland and in the Principality of Liechtenstein and can be accessed by any individual.

Play Suisse is a streaming platform with personalised services.

It streams selected content from SRG SSR’s enterprise units (RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF, SWI), as well as providing additional personalised services.

These services include tailored content recommendations and search results.

Play Suisse is operated by SRG SSR. SRG SSR acts as the data Controller under data protection legislation, including for data processing in connection with personalised services.

Before you can use our services, you need to set up a Play Suisse user account. Before you can do that, you must have an SRG Login.

As soon as you register, the unique identifier (UID) for your SRG Login user account will be stored in your Play Suisse user account. This allows Play Suisse to recognise you whenever you use your user account.

We cannot provide you with Play Suisse’s personalised user services unless you have a Play Suisse user account.

We process the following information in order to provide you with these personalised services (i.e. individual content recommendations and search results):

We need your usage data in order to provide you with tailored content recommendations and search results. To do this, we enter the usage data into an algorithm, which then generates your content recommendations and search results.

In short, we need usage data so that Play Suisse can suggest content that is relevant to you.

Any data you provide will be used solely for the purposes of registering and personalising your Play Suisse user account.

If you subscribe to a newsletter, we will obtain your consent to use your e-mail address so we can send it to you.

To provide these services, Play Suisse needs access to your usage data. We then enter the usage data into an algorithm, which generates your content recommendations and search results.

We obtain your consent before processing your data in order to provide personalised services. You can withdraw this consent at any time in your SRG Login profile settings (see also Play Suisse settings). Please note that withdrawing your consent will result in your Play Suisse user account being deleted.

If you subscribe to a newsletter, we will obtain your consent to use your e-mail address so we can send it to you.

The Play Suisse app requires the following access rights for technical reasons:

  • Network connections: Gives the app the right to recognise available Internet connections in order to connect to Play Suisse.
  • Internet: Allows the app to communicate with Play Suisse via the Internet.
  • Wake Lock: Allows the app to control processor performance. This is necessary for the app to provide you with the best possible playback experience for Play Suisse content.

If you choose to activate Play Suisse’s “Keep me signed in” feature, a cookie will be stored in your browser to allow this feature to work. This is a first party cookie from Play Suisse, and is essential to ensure the feature works properly.

If you delete cookies from your browser, Play Suisse will no longer recognise you automatically when you visit the site, and you will have to sign in again via SRG Login.

Play Suisse also uses cookies to allow you to create lists, such as “My List” and “Continue Watching”. The contents of your lists are saved on Play Suisse servers. These cookies are also first party cookies from Play Suisse, and are essential to ensure the feature works properly.

For more information about cookies, please refer to our Data Protection Statement.

If you choose to activate Play Suisse’s “Keep me signed in” feature, you can use it to keep yourself signed in to the site so you do not have to sign in every time you visit it.

If this feature is enabled, Play Suisse will recognise you automatically when you visit the site. To do this, the system places a cookie in your browser, which it then retrieves when you navigate to SRG Login.

If you do not use Play Suisse over a prolonged period of time, you will be automatically signed out from the system. The next time you sign in, you will have to do so manually, and then reactivate “Keep me signed in”.

You will also have to do this if you delete cookies from your browser, in which case Play Suisse will no longer recognise you automatically when you visit the site, and you will have to sign in again via SRG Login.

Privacy tip: To protect your privacy, if anyone else has access to your Internet browser (for example if you are using a hotel Internet connection or share your house) we advise against activating the “Keep me signed in” feature, and recommend that you sign out manually when you finish using the site.

For more information about cookies, please refer to our Data Protection Statement.

If you use Play Suisse on one of your mobile devices, (such as a tablet or smartphone), you do not have to activate the “Keep me signed in” feature. You will stay signed in unless and until you deliberately sign out.

Privacy tip: If anyone else has access to your mobile device, we recommend you sign out whenever you leave the site to protect your privacy.

If you use Play Suisse on your smart TV, you do not have to activate the “Keep me signed in” feature. You will stay signed in unless and until you deliberately sign out.

Privacy tip: If anyone else has access to your smart TV, we recommend you sign out whenever you leave the site to protect your privacy.

The Play Suisse app does not collect any diagnostic data. If you allow your operating system to collect usage and diagnostic data, we will receive diagnostic data from your system via the company that makes it. This data will be in aggregated form. This data helps us to keep improving our app.

Your data will be used solely in order to provide you with Play Suisse services. This may include forwarding your data to Play Suisse Customer Services.

Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) will also receive your data in their capacity as contract data processors for the purposes of providing you with the Play Suisse service.

Due to restrictions on broadcast rights, under normal circumstances you can only use Play Suisse in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. Restricting content geographically like this is called “geo-blocking.”

For geo-blocking to be applied, the system has to determine your IP address and location (i.e., whether you are in Switzerland or not). If you try to use Play Suisse from outside Switzerland, a notice will appear on screen informing you that the content is geo-blocked, and you will not be able to access it.

If you are a Swiss resident, you can use Play Suisse in the EU. To do this, you need to unlock your account. If you are outside Switzerland, Play Suisse will prompt to unlock your account. However, you can also unlock Play Suisse yourself within your SRG Login user account.

Once you unlock your account, the fact you are a Swiss resident will be stored in your SRG Login user account. This information will be sent to Play Suisse in the form of a token that disables geo-blocking when you are in the EU. Each Play Suisse token is valid for one day. Once it expires, Play Suisse has to request a new one.

If you completely deactivate Play Suisse in the EU using your SRG Login profile settings, you will no longer be able to use Play Suisse in the EU.

We will only store your data for as long as is necessary to provide you with the Play Suisse service, or as is required by law.

You can delete your data and/or your user account yourself via your SRG Login profile settings (see also Play Suisse settings).

All your data associated with functionality and personalised services provided by Play Suisse will be deleted. Deletions cannot be undone.

If you have any problems or queries, do not hesitate to contact our SRG customer service team.

For more information about deleting your data, please refer to our Data Protection Statement.

Data processed in connection with your Play Suisse user account is processed on the basis of your consent.
