SRG Login

Your SRG Login will allow you to access a wide range of products and services from SRG and its enterprise units (RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF and SWI) that require a user account. Your SRG Login consists of your e-mail address and a password. In the future, you will be able to use the same SRG Login to access all SRG’s services.

The SRG login can currently be used for the following services:

Generally speaking, you will still be able to use SRG products and services without an SRG Login. Some features of our products and services have needed an account for a long time, such as the ability to comment on news stories published on the websites of SRG’s individual enterprise units. SRG only requires users to have an account where this is needed in order to provide the material concerned, either because of the nature of the content, or for technical or legal reasons.

We process personal data when you use the SRG Login and related products and services. Personal data can be understood as personally identifiable information.

FAQ on processing personal data for SRG Login

Your SRG Login will allow you to access a wide range of products and services from SRG and its enterprise units (RSI, RTR, SRF and SWI) that require a user account.

Your SRG Login also allows you to access certain products and services in the EU. To access this content outside Switzerland, you can choose to “unlock” your SRG Login user account for use in the EU. Doing so will allow you to stream content on Play Suisse in the EU.

Your profile settings will be stored in your SRG Login user account, so you can manage them centrally.

SRG Login is designed to be used in Switzerland and in the Principality of Liechtenstein. Anyone can get an SRG Login.

Your SRG Login allows you to access a wide range of products and services from SRG and its enterprise units (RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF and SWI) that require a user account.

Some of these products and services can be personalised for individual users. These personalised services require a user account. For example, your user account will allow you to synchronise your watchlists and “Continue Watching” lists, as well as to receive personalised content recommendations.

You will also need a user account to access products and services from outside Switzerland that, for legal reasons, are only available to Swiss residents. This also applies if you want to enjoy our products and services in an EU member state.

SRG Login is operated by SRG. SRG and its enterprise units (RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF, SWI) are joint controllers for data protection purposes.

In order to register you for SRG Login, we require the following data:

  • Your e-mail address.
  • Your password.

We also record your language via the SRG product or service. This language is set as your display language when you register your account.

When you register for the service, a unique identifier (UID) will be generated by the system. Your data will then be associated with this UID.

When you use products and services from SRG or its enterprise units (RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF, SWI), such as Play Suisse, your UID will be used to identify you on the system.

The data we collect from you will be used solely for the purposes of registering you with SRG Login and providing you with the service.

If you subscribe to a newsletter, we will obtain your consent to use your e-mail address so we can send it to you.

For more information about the way we process your personal data, please refer to our Data Privacy Statement.

You can sign in to SRG Login using credentials for your linked account (e.g. OneLog, Google, Facebook, Apple).

If you sign in using this method, SRG Login will collect

  • your e-mail address.

If your linked account provider does not disclose your e-mail address, we will request it from you directly.

Our linked account functionality uses an authorisation protocol known as OAuth (Open Authorisation). This protocol makes it possible for you to sign in to the system using your linked account provider credentials.

You should be aware that signing in via a linked account carries certain risks. For instance:

  • Every time you sign in, your linked account provider will collect data about you.

If unauthorised third parties gain access to your linked account details, they will be able to use these details to sign in to SRG Login.

If you want to deactivate your SRG Login details from your linked account, you need to inform your linked account provider. You can usually do this by changing the relevant (privacy) settings for your linked account provider. For OneLog, it is in: User account > Security.

Exception: Apple with the option "Hide my e-mail" (See Below: *).

If you deactivate the connection between your linked account and the SRG Login or delete your linked account, your SRG Login user account will remain active. You will no longer be able to sign in with your former linked account.

To access your remaining SRG Login user account, you may use the e-mail address  forwarded to us by your linked account provider, or the e-mail address you provided to us (you can find this e-mail address in your SRG Login welcome e-mail):

  • Select in the SRG Login sign-in window “Forgotten your password?’”
  • Enter your e-mail address,
  • We will send you an e-mail with instructions on how to set a new password.

If you have any problems or queries, do not hesitate to contact our user support. Please make sure you have your UID and your e-mail address at hand. You can find these details in your SRG Login welcome e-mail.

* If, as an Apple device user, you have used the "Sign in with Apple" function offered by Apple with the "Hide my e-mail" option to register for the SRG login and have deactivated this again via the function offered by Apple or have deleted your Apple account, then neither you nor we can restore your SRG login, as the unique email address generated via the "Sign in with Apple" is completely anonymous and therefore cannot be assigned to a person. In this case, we ask you to create a new SRG login.

If you deactivate the connection between your linked account and the SRG Login or delete your linked account, your SRG Login user account will remain active.

To delete your SRG Login user account, follow the steps below:

  • Sign in to your SRG Login user account as normal and delete your user account via your SRG Login profile settings (select the “Delete” option).

If you have already deactivated the connection between your linked account and the SRG Login or deleted your linked account, follow the instructions below:

  • To access your remaining SRG Login user account, you may access it by requesting a new password in the SRG Login sign-in window. To do this, select “Forgotten your password?”
  • We will send you an e-mail with instructions on how to set a new password.
  • Once you have set a new password, you can use it to sign in to your SRG Login user account and delete your user account via your SRG Login profile settings (select the “Delete” option).

If you have any problems or queries, do not hesitate to contact our user support. Please make sure you have your UID and your e-mail address to hand. You can find these details in your SRG Login welcome e-mail.

You can unlock content in the EU from your SRG Login user account, provided you are resident in Switzerland. To check whether you are a Swiss resident, we need the following details from you:

  • Your Swiss mobile phone number
  • The postcode of your Swiss address

This data will only be processed with your consent. Once this data has been checked, and if you are a Swiss resident, the fact you have passed the check will be stored in your SRG Login user account. The data used to carry out the check (your mobile telephone number and postcode) will then be deleted.

The fact you are a Swiss resident will be disclosed to SRG and its enterprise units (RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF and SWI) in the form of a “token” (a long sequence of numbers and letters). This will allow you to use Play Suisse and to unlock available products and services in the EU.

You can then use the profile settings for your SRG Login user account to activate and deactivate products and services individually for use in the EU.

You can also use your profile settings to switch off all products and services in the EU. If, once you have unlocked products and services for use in the EU, you decide to switch them all off again, you will need to go through the whole activation process from scratch if you want access them in the EU again.

The precise products and services you will be able to access in the EU varies on their content.

For more information about the way we process your personal data, please refer to our Data Privacy Statement.

You can use your profile settings to change the e-mail address associated with your account and your password, as well as your preferred language for communications (newsletters, e-mails etc.). There, you can also sign out of SRG Login.

If you use individual user accounts for products and services, you can manage these accounts from your SRG Login profile settings (e.g. deleting user accounts).

If you no longer want to use SRG Login, you can delete your user account via your profile settings.

Whereas SRG Login provides for a “Keep me signed in” feature, a cookie will be stored in your browser to allow this feature to work. This is a first party cookie from SRG, and is technically required.

If you delete cookies from your browser, SRG Login will no longer recognise you automatically when you visit the site, and you will have to sign in again.

For more information about cookies, please refer to our Data Privacy Statement.

The SRG Login will recognise you automatically when you visit the site. To do this, the system uses a cookie, which it places in your browser.

If you do not use SRG Login over a prolonged period (e.g. one month), you will be automatically signed out. The next time you sign in, you will have to do so manually and reactivate “Keep me signed in".

You will also have to do this if you delete cookies from your browser, in which case SRG Login will no longer recognise you automatically when you visit the site and you will have to sign in again.

For more information about cookies, please refer to our Data Privacy Statement.

SRG collects diagnostic data, which it uses to maintain the stability and reliability of the SRG Login system. When you use SRG Login, the system generates audit logs. These are stored in Microsoft Azure. Microsoft cannot access this data directly.

Your data will only be shared within SRG and its enterprise units (RSI, RTR, RTS, SRF, SWI). This also applies to any data you provide to our user support.

Microsoft Azure, AdNovum Informatik AG and the corporate subsidiary SWISS TXT AG will also receive your data as a data processor. It uses this data to provide the infrastructure for the SRG Login as well as for testing purposes to prevent failures.

We will only store your data for as long as is necessary to provide you with the SRG Login, or as is required by law.

You can delete your data respectively your user account yourself via your profile settings.

If you have any problems or queries, do not hesitate to contact our user support.

For more information about deleting your data, please refer to our Data Privacy Statement.

Data processed in connection with your SRG Login user account is processed on the basis of your consent.

I you configured your browser as suggested but are still frequently logged out of Play Suisse, please contact our support team.

If you use Play Suisse on your smart TV, you do not have to activate the “Keep me signed in” feature. You will stay signed in unless and until you deliberately sign out.

Due to restrictions on broadcast rights, under normal circumstances you can only use Play Suisse in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. Restricting content geographically like this is called “geo-blocking.”

For geo-blocking to be applied, the system has to determine your IP address and location (i.e., whether you are in Switzerland or not). If you try to use Play Suisse from outside Switzerland, a notice will appear on screen informing you that the content is geo-blocked, and you will not be able to access it.

If you are a Swiss resident, you can use Play Suisse in the EU. To do this, you need to unlock your account. If you are outside Switzerland, Play Suisse will prompt to unlock your account. However, you can also unlock Play Suisse yourself within your SRG Login user account.

Once you unlock your account, the fact you are a Swiss resident will be stored in your SRG Login user account. This information will be sent to Play Suisse in the form of a token that disables geo-blocking when you are in the EU. Each Play Suisse token is valid for one day. Once it expires, Play Suisse has to request a new one.

If you completely deactivate Play Suisse in the EU using your SRG Login profile settings, you will no longer be able to use Play Suisse in the EU.

We will only store your data for as long as is necessary to provide you with the Play Suisse service, or as is required by law.
