Back in Switzerland for the first time since 1989: the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) takes place in Basel on 17 May with a brilliant show in the St. Jakobshalle and the largest public viewing in the history of the music competition. As a member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the SRG is responsible for organising the ESC in Switzerland.

SRG is under more pressure than ever. It has to save around CHF 270 million, or 17% of its budget, by 2029. This is also because the licence fee will be reduced to CHF 300.- in future. At the same time, the media environment is changing rapidly. SRG wants to continue to offer high-quality programming that reaches all sections of the population. To get there, it must reorganise and transform itself in depth. SRG is becoming more digital, leaner and more agile and is working more closely together across the regions. Regional anchoring, presence and proximity to the public remain central.
