Its structure as a national organisation ensures that SRG can keep the people of Switzerland informed even under exceptional circumstances.
If specific instructions on what to do need to be conveyed to the public, the authorities can issue an alarm (using the Icaro information system). In serious crises, SRG is the Swiss Federal Council’s official information medium. Service agreements are in place to ensure that the Federal Council can address the public at any time.
If SRG is no longer in a position to produce and broadcast its regular programmes, its journalists and technicians will produce an emergency radio programme in three languages under the direct responsibility of the federal government.
