Maurizio Canetta studied at the University of Pavia (arts and philosophy) and joined RSI in 1980. After completing an internship in journalism in the editorial department of "Telegiornale" in Zurich, he worked as an editor, presenter, delegate and editor-in-chief at "Telegiornale" until 1987. He then worked as a correspondent at the Parliament building and producer of "Domenica Sportiva" and of "Telegiornale". In 1993 he took over responsibility for the sports department, in 2000 for "Telegiornale", in 2007 for "Falò" and for the background reporting magazines. He also continued to manage and produce programmes and reports. As of 1 September 2008 he took over responsibility for the Cultura TV sector and in December 2010 for the culture department. From 1 July 2012 until 31 May 2014 he was responsible for the information department.
