Marc Furrer is a lawyer and a notary public. He has been a partner at Burkhalter Rechtsanwälte in Bern and Zurich since 1 January 2020. He was President of the Federal Communications Commission (Comcom) from 2005 to 2016, and the first Director of the new Federal Office of Communications (Bakom) from 1992 to 2005. Furrer began his career at SRG in 1978, where he was domestic affairs editor for Radio DRS before spending five years as parliamentary correspondent. He served as personal advisor to Adolf Ogi, a member of the Swiss national parliament, between 1988 and 1992. Marc has performed various roles and duties within Swiss sport. He was President of the Swiss Rowing Association from 1998 to 2005, President of the National Ice Hockey League from 2007 to 2017, and President of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation from 2012.
