Carreer

After completing his law degree in Bern and obtaining his attorney-at-law and notary patent in Solothurn, Marc Furrer began his professional career at SRG: in 1978, he started as a domestic editor at Radio DRS and worked there for five years as a parliamentary correspondent. Between 1988 and 1992 he served as personal advisor to Adolf Ogi, a member of the Swiss national parliament. Marc was Chair of the Federal Communications Commission (Comcom) from 2005 to 2016, and the first Director of the new Federal Office of Communications (Bakom) from 1992 to 2005. Marc has performed various roles and duties within Swiss sport. He was President of the Swiss Rowing Association from 1998 to 2005, President of the National Ice Hockey League from 2007 to 2017, and has been President of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation from 2012 to 2017. He has been a partner at Burkhalter Rechtsanwälte in Bern and Zurich since 1 January 2020 and the chair of the Board of Directors of Salt since May 2021.
