Luigi Pedrazzini studied Law at the University of Zurich, graduating in 1977. He was called to the bar in 1992. Between 1977 and 1983 he was editor-in-chief of the Ticinese daily newspaper Popolo e Libertà [People and Liberty]. In 1983, he moved to Società Elettrica Sopracenerina SA in Locarno, where he held the position of Chairman of the Management Board from 1986. In 1999 he was elected to the State Council of the canton of Ticino, serving as the head of the Department for Justice, Security and Internal Affairs until 2011. Luigi chaired the Conference of Cantonal Governments between 2001 and 2005. Since stepping down as a Cantonal Councillor, he has worked as a lawyer at BMA Studio Legale in Locarno.
