Luigi Pedrazzini studied Law at the University of Zurich, graduating in 1977. He was called to the bar in 1992. Between 1977 and 1983 he was editor-in-chief of the Ticino daily newspaper ‘Popolo e Libertà’. He then moved to Società Elettrica Sopracenerina SA in Locarno, where he held the position of Chair of the Management Board from 1986. In 1999, Luigi Pedrazzini was elected to the State Council of the Canton of Ticino. Until 2011, he was Head of the Department for Justice, Security and Internal Affairs. Between 2001 and 2005, Luigi Pedrazzini chaired the Conference of Cantonal Governments. Since stepping down as a Cantonal Councillor, he has worked as a lawyer in Locarno.
